How To Glide In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The Paldea region is packed full of exciting quests and interesting characters – it’s no wonder we want to see it all as quickly as possible!

But, like with everything when first starting out, reaching every point on the map takes time, effort, and additional help.

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet help comes in the form of upgrades. If you’ve already learnt how to surf then you’ll know that getting upgrades work a little differently in generation nine.

We’re saying goodbye to teaching our Pokemon special abilities via HMs and saying hello to feeding Koraidon/Miraidon super sandwiches to improve its health. And full health means being able to Dash, Surf, Jump, Climb, and Fly.

Well, technically you’ll learn how to Glide.

Although you won’t be flying for hours at a time, Glide is an upgrade that allows you to access normally unreachable places in Paldea. A useful ability for trainers who want to grab every shiny item they see twinkling at them in the distance.

How To Glide In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

To learn to Glide in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet you need to defeat three Titans.

Despite what other guides are saying, you don’t need to defeat a specific Titan to obtain Glide – just beat three of them and the ability will unlock.

While it doesn’t matter which order you face these Titans, most players’ third Titan will be the Quaking Earth Giant (Great Tusk), located in the western region of Asado Desert.

If you’re playing Pokemon Violet, the Quaking Earth Giant will be Iron Treads. This means that the types of Pokemon that are strong against it will vary to that of Great Tusk.

When facing Great Tusk (Ground/Fighting), your best plan of attack is to use Bug, Water, Grass or Flying types to easily defeat it. Whereas Iron Treads (Ground/Steel) is most weak against Fire, Water, Ground or Fighting types.

Given that Great Tusk is Level 44 it’s a Titan you should take on much later in the game after, ideally after defeating the Stony Cliff Titan, the Open Sky Titan, and the Lurking Steel Titan.

However, you can face the Titans in whatever order you want.

After the battle is won, and Arven turns up at the last second to make another impressive sandwich, Koraidon/Miraidon will beg for a bite. Give in to those puppy dog eyes and let it eat the sandwich to unlock the Glide ability.

Now you can Glide from atop the mountains by pressing the B button while in the air. You won’t be flying, but you will bee falling in style, just like Buzz Lightyear always said!

I really hope our little guide has helped you reach new heights in Paldea.
